Day 1:
You wing your way from Johannesburg International Airport to Phalaborwa’s “ Gateway to Kruger ’’ airport, where your ranger is on hand to welcome you. Guests on the midday flight are transferred to Tremisana Game Lodge, where you will have a chance to unwind before High Tea at 15h30.
You then board the open Landcruiser for a four hour afternoon/ night drive. After a stunning sunset, your ranger will use a powerful spotlight to locate nocturnal animals. Dinners in our open boma under the African sky will be traditional African meals. Guests arriving on the evening flight will be transferred to Tremisana. After dinner, you enjoy a late-night spotlit game drive.
Day 2:
Awaken at sunrise for an exhilarating day of unforgettable bush experience. Drive to a remote part of the Balule Plains, where you enjoy a four hour “ walk in the wild ”. Your experienced field guide will lead you through the bush at a pace you can handle in search of the Big Five. The thrill of following Africa’s large animals in a quest to approach close enough to take a good photo will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges will be acute, notwithstanding the fact that your ranger is adequately armed in case of potential danger.
We return to Tremisana at around 11h30 for brunch, after which you may swim or sleep in your airconditioned chalet. The new Lapa has extensive wildlife books and magazines. A snooze on a hammock might also do the trick !
After high tea at 15h30 we go on an afternoon game drive. Your ranger will be in constant radio contact with the Warden who will keep us informed of the movements of the animals. Unlike Kruger, limited off road driving is permitted to get a closer view of the Big Five. Return to Tremisana for dinner at 20h00.
Day 3:
Drive to the Orpen Gate of Kruger, where we transfer to a custom-built open-sided Gameviewer. The open vehicle allows for a total wildlife opportunity - you will not only have an amazing opportunity to view game, but also to listen to and smell the African bush and its denizens. The absence of windows and your elevated vantage position allow for excellent photographic opportunities. Your experienced guide will show you many animals and birds that frequent this wildlife paradise. We have regular stops at picnic spots, rest camps and places of interest. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi regions have open plains and support large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that attract numerous predators. In fact, this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa.
Day 4:
Enjoy an early morning Sunrise Drive on Balule on the open Landcruiser. After a hearty breakfast, there is an opportunity to purchase some memorabilia from our shop and take your last photos of the luxuriant lush gardens at Tremisana. We then drive to the awesome Blyde River Canyon and view the Three Rondawels.
NOTE: For people that are unable to do the walk, we replace Day Two with a full day safari on an open vehicle in Kruger.
Tremisana, the largest and leading lodge in the Balule section of Kruger Park. The presence of lions, elephants and buffalo necessitates the maintaining of an electric fence around the camp. A troop of Vervet Monkeys have learned how to avoid being shocked and have made Tremisana their permanent home. Their antics never fail to amuse and enthrall our guests.
Tremisana is the largest and leading lodge in the Balule section of Kruger Park. We have a total of 12 chalets plus a two-bedroomed Guest House. Every unit has a thatch roof, is air-conditioned and en suite ( shower, toilet, basin ) and has a tea/coffee station. Insect-proof screens are fitted on all windows.
