Day trips are enjoyable, but the night trips are on another level. There are different kinds of night drives too. Doing anything at night adds a certain sense of adventure to the experience, even if it would be categorized as ‘pg’, you still feel like you up to something a little naughty, but nice. One of these night drives is the ‘astronomy’ or ‘Stargazing’ drive, this drive will be presenting to you an informed view of the southern hemisphere skies, African star lore and of course, you’ll be whipping out the old telescope for some close-ups.
Then the exciting bush drives, they often like to start this off late in the afternoon in an open safari vehicle cruising along past Nwamanzi Lookout Point [on the bank of the Olifants River] and other great spots. These trips can take up to three hours. Giving you the chance to catch those night owls [ and other animals that like to hunt and hang out using the vampires method of timekeeping] You could easily get to see lions, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, rhinos and wildebeests running along [possibly on a hunting mission, who knows] Your handy guide should keep you both informed and entertained, with loads of tid-bits of relevant information you had never dreamed of even asking about. You can even settle to a talk on stars, planets, African folklore and who knows what else…leaving the evening and wilderness entirely at your disposal.
