


Kapama Private Game Reserve occupies a vast region between the northern Drakensberg mountains and the Greater Kruger National Park. Kapama Private Game Reserve is one of the largest private game reserves in the Limpopo Province, covering an area of approximately 13000 hectares and comprising of spectacular topographical, mammal and bird specie diversity. Kapama Private Game Reserve was proclaimed a private reserve in 1993. The name comes from Kapama, a Swazi king, whose tribe inhabited and hunted in the northern Drakensberg mountains around Marieskop back in 1880.
Kapama Private Game Reserve features 3 distinctly different safari experiences: Kapama Lodge, Kapama River Lodge and Kapama Buffalo Camp. The Limpopo Province is characterised by rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests. The reserve supports no less than 42 mammal species and has approximately 350 bird species. Amongst the mammal species is the Big 5 – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino. It is located adjacent to the Eastgate Airport or Hoedspruit and offers open vehicle transfers directly from Eastgate to any of the lodges at Kapama.
