Lower Sabie Reviews

Mr
The ablution facilities are a mess,
My accommodation which I made a reservation for was given mistakenly to other couples and had to be delayed for trying to sort the inconvenience.

NOT THE LAST TIME
We really enjoyed our stay at Lower Sabie, wanted to stay longer but just couldn't, it was fully booked and nobody cancelled, no wonder, it is such a lovely camp. Next year we have our family from Australia coming to visit and we will definitely book at Lower Sabie again. Thanks for the wonderful bungalow, on the river side. Various animals came walking down the fence, wonderful.

Changes
We had a wonderful time staying in Lower-Sabie in a BG2 bungalow. The only concern was the fridge next to the beds and why not outside? The noise of the fridge turning on and off can irritate some people. Then every morning their was small black spots on our cushions. Don't know if it's bat dung or coming from the aircon. Other then that: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Die park en natuur was uitstekend. Maar die Die verblyf was swak. Vlermuis mis het oral rongele en nag moes beddens verskuif word sodat dit nie op jou val nie. Restorand was swak asook die diens.

Great location and excellent facilities for the price. Efficient maids change bed sheets everyday. Being in accommodation like this keeps the experience of Kruger going throughout your adventure and allows you to meet more people to exchange hints and tips for sightings of the big 5!

Great site, but old bulidings
The acommodations, while in a lovely spot, were very old and musty smelling, needing renovations.

Great Holiday
We have visited the Kruger park on and off for the past 10 years. This is the first time that we had decided to stay in the park. I must say I will do it again anytime.

Staying inside the park allows you to go into the park a little earlier and stay a little later. We have never seen so many animanl in one visit to the park.

The big highlight for me was the Wild Dog sighting and finally cathing a leopard in a tree.

I was also sceptical as we were camping in a tent. THe amenities provided by the Camp were so good we could almost forget we were staying in a tent.

A great time had by all and will definitley be back

Amazing 2 day stay
This camp offered us everything an more. and enjoyable experience, neatly rearranged room every morning. clean bathroom fascilities that were in close walking distance from our hut. an enjoyable tidy pool area.

We honestly couldnt have asked for more, and it really didnt cost us what we were expecting to pay!

Could be better
Accommodation at the camp is fine but the area really needs some attention. Walking from bungalow to the viewpoint and bird hide was difficult because of the long uncut grass and the area was generally unkept. If some could spend some time to make the area more presentaable that would go a long way.

From O.Mikus
Everything was O.K. Only more atention should be given to the communal kitchen in the campsite as some stoves were not working.

Incredible Lower Sabie
"The tranquil setting overlooking the Sabie River is spectacular as well as the abundant wildlife saturating the surrounding bush. It is a must for anyone entering the Kruger Park who wishes to see all the game species and stay at a magnificent camp. It can't be compared to any other camp in the Park."

Lower Sabie
The game drive and guide were fantastic. We saw a lot of game and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
The tent was clean but there was a funny smell. Not sure if it was the septic tank or the monkeys that had been urinating on the deck.

Attention to detail lacking
Our stay at Lower Sabie was great by virtue of its location, but the stove tops in the new chalet was not working and there were no bath mats in the bathrooms (very unpleasant in winter).

Skukuza, Olifants and Lower Sabie
Lower Sabie was lovely - the tent had the best view and it had a rustic charm to it. Olifants was also good - it is functional and very affordable. The camp has a magnificent view but the bungalow did not have a view. The bungalow we stayed in at Skukuza had a terrible drain smell coming from the shower which was not very pleasant. Apart from that it is was a wonderful break and I would definitely go again.

Skukuza review
Was a great little house with good beds, bathrooms and facilities. we loved it. It was located nice and close to the restaurant and the beautiful view over the river. We wanted the Moni guesthouse but it wasn't availble.

The camp staff are wonderful and friendly, the food was great and the shops. It is our second visit and we will be back for sure!

Sign up for the morning Bush Walk!
Had a nice stay in Lower Sabie. We saw many animals driving in/out, and the morning Bush Walk was incredible. Our ranger was Jan, tracker was Raymond.
We saw 7 male Lions before even getting off the vehicle! Jan was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable - what a great walk & experience. I highly recommend.
Suggest that the check out time for participants of the early morning walk be relaxed to 11:00 a.m. - we had to shower and eat breakfast after the walk and were rudely informed by the cleaning staff to get out. We returned from the walk to our bungalow at 9:50 a.m. and rushed to get 3 showers and b'fast and be on our way by 10:45 a.m. Not bad for us (3)!

Best camp in Kruger
Thank you for a camp like Lower Sabie. The peace and tranquility still exsist and the staff are excellent.
By far the best camp in Kruger. I put a high price on the sound of nature at night and here at Lower Sabie one can still experience it. PLEASE KEEP IT THAT WAY.

A night at Berg en Dal
The camp is in a beautiful setting and we were lucky enough to have a small herd of elephant pass our chalet in the evening. Reception staff were helpful and we liked the exhibition next to reception.
The sunrise game drive was interesting and the driver made up for a slight shortage of animals by telling us about the birds and about the properties of various plants and herbs.

Skukuza Review
I just filled out a review for Lower Sabie... At Skukuza I also had issues. Due to the poor booking set up or lack of at Sabie, I was quite adamant that we were actually booked for our morning walk. They rudely (at the reception desk) said that we were of course booked. Well when we woke up at 4am to go to the walk, we were not on the list and the ranger would not take us as he said this happened before and the ranger was fired. After arguing over and over again , he finally took us. Again , the blamed Accommodation direct. Eric who was the ranger did a superb job on the walk!

Lower Sabie Review
When we arrived at Lower Sabie we were not greeted very kindly. I don't know if it was due to the time of day or what. Anyhow, we checked into our bungaloo and there were people in it! When we went back to check in they kept blaming accomodation direct. They finally sorted it out without so much as an apology. We went on our night drive, we were also not on the list.

We really enjoyed the time spent at KNP. We saw 20 rhinos on one day! A bull elephant confronted our vehicle, but we managed to get past.

Three lovely days in Lower Sabie Restcamp!
We staied for three days in the safari tent in the Lower Sabie and it was great. Lots of hippos in the Sabie river just next to our tent. The safari tent was really ok and I will never forget our stay. All the best, Birgit

Good & Bad & Suggestions.
We found the buffet meals to be expensive for what we were offered. We chose rather to prepare our own meals.
Good - it was the first time in a safari-tent and we found it very comfortable and clean. The proximity of the tent to the river was wonderful.
Generally the park is in a good state. The roads are in a good condition and the camps are free from litter.
Suggestions - Is it possible to consider a Night drive from say 21h00 to 24h00. Rushing back at 17h30 to get to the truck is a mission. Realistically one sees very few of the nocturnal animals at it still light for half the time of the "night drive".
Please can you bring it to peoples attention that the Park cannot be accessed from Crocodile bridge. Our neighbours (French tourists) missed their night drive as they had to turn back from Crocodile Bridge on arrival and back track to Malelane and in the process arrived at Lower Sabie at 18h00 thereby missing out on their night drive. Not good advertising considering that the gent works for Sol Kerzner - word will clearly get around.
Thanks for keeping the Park in this condition - just please sort out the ablutions and petrol problem.

Regards
Peter

The safari tent was great and unexpected! Maybe a little bit humid during the night, but the overall experience is definitely positive.

The only very sad thing was that poor hyena waiting for the food from the restaurant..

Delighted
We were absolutely delighted with our front row river facing suites, they were clean and we felt spoilt.

The restaurant looked most inviting and all the staff were friendly, we met the head chef Gabriel and he was delightful.

I guess if we had been in one of the bungalows further back we might not have enjoyed it so much, but we had a great time!
