Come and share memorable moments in the Lush Limpopo river valley, sipping sundowners at the confluence of the celebrated Limpopo and Shashe Rivers, where three countries unite in the renowned Mapungubwe National Park. Gaze at eagles soaring over African skies, heed the echo of elephant trumpets, embark on a tree top hike or simply relax, unwind and soak in the superb surroundings.
Found in a spectacular flourishing sandstone flanked valley and set amongst mopane scrub and mixed woodland, is Mapungubwe Park’s main rest camp, Leokwe Camp. Located in the eastern section of the Park, this historical self catering camp has a rich cultural atmosphere with a typical Vendan Village design.
The bird life is abundant and the confluence of two great rivers has a lookout with a number of observation decks which provide impressive views across the rivers below and give a birds-eye view of this delightful area.. indeed the whole neighborhood with its rocky valleys and craggy outcrops scattered with large Baobab and riverine forest trees give the impression of being a raptor paradise. The boardwalk which goes to the hide surveying the river is a wonderful place to have a picnic and do some riverine woodland birding.
Accommodation at Leokwe Camp consists of fully equipped, beautifully furnished & private thatched cottages. With outdoor showers to add to the unforgettable outdoor adventure! The camp is unfenced, welcoming the wildness of Africa into your room.
