Sandstone structures, lush Mopane woodlands and luxuriant riverine forests interspersed with upside down baobab trees shape the spectacular scenic backdrop for an abundance of wildlife and magic. Moon landscapes of sandstone formations, eco routes, game and bird hides. Mapungubwe National Park is the perfect park for those in search of nature, tranquility, personality and the extraordinary mystery of this World Heritage Site.
There is a diversity of archaeological sites that are a fascinating attraction in the park including San art sites and guided tours are offered.
Situated on the western region of the Park and nestled within the verdant riverine forest of the Limpopo River, lies a cozy tented camp which offers excellent birding, with more than 400 species of birds to tick off including, kori bustard, tropical boubou and pel’s fishing owl.
The Maloutswa Pan hide is on the doorstep to Limpopo Forest Tented Camp and their is easy access to a great variety of habitats, including areas of grassland and thornveld Savannah.. Elephant, giraffe, white rhino, eland, gemsbok and various other antelope species occur naturally in the neighborhood. Fortunate guests may see predators like lions, leopards and hyenas.
Accommodation at the Limpopo Forest Tented Camp consists of 8 spacious comfortable forest tents and outside area with swimming pool and a unique eco-trail.
7 Forest Tents have 2 single bed bedrooms cooled by ceiling fans
Bathroom (w/c and shower), Equipped kitchen & large lapa with barbecue facilities.
1 forest tent is accessible to persons with impaired mobility.
