Situated in the Makuleke region in the northern region of Kruger National Park, The award winning Outpost rests high on a hill overlooking the floodplains of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers. This region is bordered to the north by Zimbabwe and to the East by Crooks Corner and Mozambique.
The outpost is on 24 000 hectares, abundant with wildlife and excellent birding, including some less common species. The diverse terrain includes Mopane woodlands, fever tree forests, acacia thickets as well as some of the largest and oldest Baobab specimens. Clients are accommodated in 12 stand-alone en-suite rooms that are placed alongside a walkway halfway up a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu river.
Acclaimed Italian born architect Enrico Daffonchio designed The Outpost. Using simple, clean lines and combining elements of steel and canvas the unashamedly contemporary design of The Outpost emphasizes its beautiful surrounds but blends and preserves the wilderness that is its home.
The modern design with fold-away sides allows for 180-degree views and the open feel of the rooms extends into the bathroom where guests have a view as far as Mozambique. Meals are served in the spectacular dining area with its breathtaking views and the lodge makes use of the surrounding area to host picnic lunches and bush dinners. The lounge and bar areas offer a cool and relaxing alternative to the daybeds on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool. Game activities include game drives on open 4 x 4, accompanied by expert guides as well as river and foot safaris. Thulamela archaeological site and cultural visits and the Makuleke Village are nearby.
Guests must be age 12 years of age or older. Guests must arrive before Kruger Gate closing times see our gate times on the home page.
