The Olifants river is watched over at one point by an eponymous hilltop sanctuary - Olifants river bushveld camp, a rugged, self service facility tucked into the romantic bush of the Kruger, is an adventure into the majestic wild of the Kruger National Park. Relax in the comfort of your accommodation, or discover adventure and wildlife in the pristine surrounding bushveld.
Accommodation is provided in two or three-bed bungalows with en-suite ablutions, air-conditioning, and an option for a perimeter view. Four-bed units have one en-suite and one separate bathroom each, outdoor braai (barbecue) facilities, fridge-freezer combinations, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery, as well as the same option on views.
Olifants river guest houses are situated in prime positions in the surrounds, and feature kitchens with microwave ovens, DSTV televisions and breathtaking views from various decks affixed to the buildings. Lebombo and Nshawu guesthouses accommodate eight people each.
Adventure activities at Olifants rest camp include game drives as well as guided bush walks, conducted and supervised by specially trained and highly informative professional guides. Guests should take note that children not older than six will not be permitted on game drives, while children younger than twelve are barred from game walks. The Olifants Wilderness Trail is an optional, prebooked overnight activity, and must be coordinated with the camp at least eleven months in advance. Furthermore. the Olifants River Back-Pack trail and various mountain bike trails in the area complete the rugged, outdoor experience of this self-catering camping destination.
Facilities at Olifants include restaurants, shops, a laundromat, filling station, cutlery and plate hampers, and a day visitor picnic area, as well as limited channel access DSTV televisions.
Wild inhabitants of the park range from scavenging baboons and vervet monkeys, to fruit bats, Cape clawless otter and thick-tailed bush babies, to the more impressive lion, and leopard populations.
