Kruger National Park's caravan and camping sites are popular for their scenic surrounds, and the Tamboti tented camp is a premium example of just this popularity - safari tents on stilts, large thickets of tall marula trees, and a rustic, private bush motif provide a magical setting in which guests can congregate around a fire, watch the sun set, and trade stories about the day’s conquests with friends and family.

Tamboti tented units are all self catering, accommodation being supplied in two and four-bed furnished, canvas tents on stilts, with standing fans, small verandas, and communal ablutions and kitchens. Semi-luxury safari tents, with three-beds each, are equipped with fridges, cooking and braai facilities, and one sleeper couch each. Being managed from Orpen camp, Tamboti has no reception area, and guests can only report to Orpen camp for check-in.

Adventure activities at Tamboti tented camp are facilitated via guided bush walks and game drives, all of which are supervised and conducted by a team of well informed and highly trained field guides. Guests are requested to note that children younger than the age of six are not allowed to accompany them on game drives, and children younger than twelve will be restricted from game walks. The Bundu Trail is a pre-booked overnight activity, an example of the kind of trail which must be booked up to eleven months in advance. Camp facilities include communal kitchens and ablution blocks, a boma (braai) area, and bird hide.

Wildlife in the area includes a host of elephant, zebra, impala, warthog, wildebeest and giraffe along the drive from Orpen to Satara, as well as lion, cheetah and leopard near the North Timbavati river and Olifants camp.
