Among the oldest camps in the Kruger National park, Pretoriuskop Rest Camp carries with it a charming sense of great nostalgia and connection with its lengthy past – guests have a wide selection of accommodation available to them, with cosy furnishings and rustic decoration adding to the sense of history.
Accommodation is provided at campsites and caravan sites, either fitted with or without electricity points, communal bathrooms, and cooking facilities with electric hotplates, for a maximum of six people per site. Two, three, five or six-bed huts are also available for accommodation, with ceiling fans, communal ablution and kitchen facilities.
Fifty-two two, four or six-bed bungalows are all equipped with air-conditioning either showers or baths, and a limited supply of fully equipped utensil boxes (cutlery, crockery, glasses and frying pan). Six-bed family cottages are available for accommodation, with one en-suite bathroom per unit, as well as a separate communal bathroom, gas stoves (with ovens), fridge/freezer combinations, crockery and cutlery. One four bedroom family cottage is also available. Lastly, luxury guest house units are also available, with Pierre Joubert house sleeping sixteen, and Doherty Bryant sleeping nine. Kitchens are complete with microwave ovens, and limited-access DSTV televisions.
Activities at Pretoriuskop include guided bush walks and game drives, supervised and conducted by highly trained, professional field guides. Guests are requested to note that children younger than the age of six are not allowed to accompany them on game drives, and children younger than twelve will be restricted from game walks. As a pre-booked, overnight activity, the Napi Wilderness Trail is available, subject to up to eleven months prior booking.
Additional activities include the Madlabantu 4x4 Adventure Trail, and the Sable Trail camp walk. Facilities include a restaurant, shops, laundromat, DSTV televisions in the guest houses, and a swimming pool. Cell phone reception is also fully available.
Small herds of sable, eland and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, as well as both black and white rhino, elephant, and buffalo. Hippopotamus congregate around the Mestel dam, and Shitlhave Dam sees regular visits from reedbuck.
