Punda Maria Reviews

Punda Maria Tented Camp
Had a comfortable stay, but were slightly disappointed
with the condition of the Tents, they have not been renovated for some time. Otherwise our stay was good.

Punda Maria
I just loved the interior of the bungalo. Beautiful tiles and user friendly bathroom. Fantastic new air-con that was not noisy and also had a remote. We were very impressed with the set up.New linen and blankets and towels were also a bonus. Only problem was that there were no braai facilities and we were not aware of that. Will definetly come back

Punda Maria
Interesting drive via Giyane to Punda Maria ... entrance gate not the most efficiently run ... Camp is a very pleasant older camp ... good and pleasant service at the restaurant. Interesting drives to Crooke's Corner and along the Levuvhu River ... lots of baobabs and nyala.

Punda is far but worth it
We stayed at the tented camp - what a pleasant surprise! We enjoyed the intimate feeling of this small camp, the lovely dinner under the stars and the night drive.

Kitchen utensils not adequite. This unit is extremely small and the bathrooms are really a nightmare to get into. You have to close the door, step into the shower to get to the toilet. Very inconvenient.

Punda Maria Rest Camp
We arrived late in the afternoon so had to make a direct route to the camp which meant that our game viewing was limited. The area around the camp site is very bushy and probably has little game to view from the road. It was very quiet. The camp was a delight. The restaurant was in the process of being redecorated but the tables for dinner were outside, lit by lamps and very cosy. The staff were helpful and courteous. The manager came around to each table, introduced himself and had a chat. It gave an air of making sure that he was interested in the clients. The rooms were very nice and having stayed at other camps throughout the Kruger, this camp gets the best rating. They were in good order, and finished to a high spec. It is a shame that other camps are not like this.

Punda Maria and The Pafuri area
We had an excellent time at at Punda Maria, we saw Nyala, Impala and Elephant as well as many bird species drinking the water at the hide. We took excellent photos - it was also great that Punda Maria had a swimming pool that helped alot as it got to 38 degrees. When we went on a game drive we also got to see a male lion, which was not bothered about the car so we were able to follow him for about 2 km while he was marking his territory. We also saw very rare birds such as the Cested guinea Fowl and the Lappet Faced Vulture... it was an all round great trip.

Not again ...
Not mpressed with this campsite. No 'decent' braai facilities ... only place to eat (at room) is on a very narrow walk-way. I kept bumping my head on thatch overhang - and I'm short!

Also, being the 2nd row of 'bungalows', our view was of the bungalows in front of us. Insufficient parking facilities.

The monkeys were, however, very fun to watch!
