Directions
Sabie Mpumalanga South Africa
DIRECTIONS: From Nelspruit (Mbombela): take the R40 in the Direction of Whiteriver (about 16km). Just before Whiteriver, turn left at the traffic light onto the "Road to Sabie" (R537). Continue on this road all the way to Sabie (48km). When you get to the T-junction, turn left and continue only 200m. We are the fisrt Property on the right next to the Gorge.
From Hoedspruit (Marulaneng) / Tzaneen: continue to the J.G.Strydom Tunnel on the Abel Erasmus pass (R36) for 31km from the Hoedspruit/Tzaneen (R527/R36) intersection. Continue onwards in the direction of Ohrigstad. Turn left onto the R532 towards Graskop. This road will take you past the Blyderiver Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window. Once you get to the town of Graskop, turn from Louis Trichardt str. into Hoof str. At the next stop sign, turn right into Pilgrims Way (R532) and continue for 6km. Here you have to keep Left, otherwise you will end up in Pilgrim's Rest. After this intersection continue 23km until you get to Sabie. Once in Sabie, see the map attached.
From Kruger National Park via Hazyview: Take the R536 when exiting from Paul Kruger Gate (41km) or Phabeni Gate (20km) all the way to Hazyview. Once you get to the first traffic light, turn right onto the R40. Turn Left after about 1km onto the "Road to Sabie" (R536 the Stop Sign just after Perry's Bridge). Continue 45km to Sabie. Once in Sabie, see the map attached.
From Oliver Tambo International Airport: travel on R21 towards Boksburg and then turn onto the N12 East towards Witbank. At Witbank
the N12 now becomes the N4. Continue on the N4 towards Belfast. * See Directions below.
From Pretoria: from the N1 motor-way take the N4 turn-off towards Witbank. Continue on the N4 all the way to Belfast. *see directions below.
*Route 1: Continue on the N4 to Machadodorp. Go past the town and continue to the Machado Plaza (approx: R55.00). Once through the plaza you have a choice of 2 routes. You can either follow the N4 to Nelspruit (Mbombela) via Waterval-Boven, or you can keep left and take the N4 to Nelspruit via Schoemanskloof. Both routes are scenic and in a good condition, but the latter has less traffic. Both roads join up again after approx. 62km. From this junction continue on the N4 for another 3.7km, after which you will turn left onto the R539 to Sabie/ Sudwala Caves. Follow this road for 8km until you get the turn-off to Sabie (R539) where you will turn right. This winding road (with a few long straight sections) takes you to Rosehaugh (15km) where you will join up with the main road to Sabie (R37). You are now just 30km away. Turn Left. The road takes you on a 20km stretch through pine and gum plantations and then up the mountain high above Sabie. When you get to the T-Junction, turn right and continue down the mountain for the last 10km. Once in Sabie, turn right at the very first Stop Sign (at the CALTEX Petrol Station. This is Louis Trichardt str). At the next Stop Sign Turn Right (the Woodsman Centre will be infront of you) towards Hazyview/ Whiteriver. Continue 40m down the road. We are just after the Woodsman Pub, 40m down on the left, before the Gorge.
*Alternate Route: This Route takes the same time to get to Sabie, but has more Stops and the road is not in such a good condition. Take the turn off to Belfast(R33) and go through the town. Turn right onto the R540 towards Dullstroom. You will pass through Dullstroom and will eventually get to Lydenburg where you will drive through the town until you see the “Sabie, Hazyview” sign (R37). Turn Right. Go through the Long-Tom pass and about 10km from Sabie the Route-number will become the R537. We are just after the Woodsman Pub, 40m down on the left, before the Gorge
