Balule Camp

Hidden away in the heart of the Kruger National park, in the most superb scenery, rests the intimately small Balule Camp. Identified after the Tsonga word for Olifants River, Balule Camp is one of the most beautiful places for nature lovers to experience the African bush first hand.

Roughly located in the centre of the Kruger National Park, just south of Olifants, Balule Camp is situated close to the powerful & impressive Olifants River.

Balule camp is a mystery of the Park, with only the most essential facilities and no electricity. Paraffin lamps supply the lighting which adds to the ancient ambiance of the camp. A primitive fence is the only hindrance that divides you from the wilderness & it is this exceptional wild feel of the camp, that makes it a desired choice with backpackers, the caravaning community and like-minded visitors who want an authentic bushveld encounter.

Accommodation & Lodging at Balule consists of:

15 Camp sites devoid of power points.

6 Huts (3 beds) without electricity.

Each hut is complete with linens, towels and a ceiling fan, Communal toilets and kitchen facilities. Barbecue amenities and Paraffin lamps are availible.

Embark on a guided bush walk or take part in the nocturnal activities of the Park’s enigmatic creatures on a night game drive & scrutinize the African bush. A large and successful lion pride can be spotted along the path that runs east from Satara, embracing the bank of the N'wanetsi stream and Leopard lie waiting to ensnare the thirsty grazers that come in large herds to drink.

Some places of interest nearby the camp are N’wamanzi Lookout, Olifants Lookout, Engelhard Dam, Balule Bridge, Ngotso Pan, Baobab Tree on Gravel Road to Letaba.
