Skukuza is SANPARKS largest rest camp in the Kruger National Park. It is located on the southern banks of the Sabie River and was originally known as Sabie Bridge.
The camp was named in Tsonga after James Stevenson-Hamilton, Kruger’s first game warden. His museum houses many historic artifacts, like the knife of game ranger Harry Wolhuter used to slay a Lion and save his life. Skukuza is well foliaged and offers excellent opportunities to view game and birds along the river banks.
The accommodation at Skukuza consists of:
Skukuza Safari Tents
Skukuza has 21 safari tents, choose Two and Four bed permanent canvas tents each with communal toilets, cooking facilities and refrigeration.
Skukuza Camp Bungalows
There are 187 round bungalows, they have a single bedroom with thatched roof and 2 or 3 beds per bungalow each equipped with en–suite bathroom, most have a shower, but some have baths. Some bungalows have AC, others have ceiling fans. Kitchenettes vary; cutlery and crockery can be hired from reception.
Skukuza Camp Luxury Bungalows
There are 20 luxury bungalows, 1 bedroomed bungalows have a en-suite bathroom; Each bungalow has double bed, AC and satellite DSTV channels. Choose between a riverside view with kitchen, or semi-lux units without a river view and with a communal kitchen. Bungalows along the river frontage are more modern.
Skukuza Family Cottage
Waterkant 2 well equipped on the waters edge; three bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and a bathroom with river views forming part of the guest house complex.
Skukuza Guest Cottages
There are fifteen 4 or 6-bed cottages which have well equipped kitchens, several bedrooms and usually more than 1 bathroom.
Skukuza Guest Houses
Moni Guest House can accommodate 8 people, in four bedrooms, 2 single beds per room.
Nyathi Guest House can accommodate 8, in four bedrooms, 2 single beds per room.
Waterkant Guest House can accommodate 8 in four bedrooms, 2 single beds per room.
ABSA Guest House can accommodate 12 in six bedrooms, 2 single beds per room.
The guest houses are in prime positions, with river view. They are well–equipped with DSTV.
Skukuza Camp campsites
Tent or caravan sites, with power point, communal ablutions and cooking facilities, maximum of 6 persons per site.
